There is some required work that needs to be done on the BisonNet storage due to one of the products we use being end-of-lifed by the vendor. Unfortunately, due to the size of the data that we need to migrate to a new storage solution and the nature of the migration, the outage will be lengthy. It will be done in two phases:
- The entire BisonNet environment will be unavailable from Monday, December 14 at noon until Friday December 18 at midnight. Any running jobs will be terminated at the beginning of the outage. No jobs will be able to be run during the outage window and access to all of the BisonNet data will be unavailable.
- Following this initial outage, the majority of the BisonNet environment, including your ability to submit jobs and access your BisonNet home directory data, will be available again. However, access to archival/SwiftStack storage may continue to be unavailable until Monday, December 21 at midnight while we finish migrating this data. Access to archival/SwiftStack storage will change following this migration. We’re hopeful that it will become easier for individuals to store and access large data sets for long term use, but some details are still being worked out. We’ll provide more information following the outage.
We certainly apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. If you have any questions, please let us know at bisonnet@bucknell.edu.
