Bucknell began providing basic research computing services to our faculty and student researchers in 2011. In 2017, Bucknell was awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) Campus Cyberinfrastructure Grant.
Thanks in large part to a grant of nearly $400,000 from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Bucknell student and faculty researchers now have access to a new environment known as BisonNet. BisonNet consists of compute nodes with numerous CPUs, large amounts of memory and graphics processing units (GPUs), as well as storage for both transient and archival storage. The various components are connected via a high speed network, which allows the data to be transferred and shared quickly both on and off campus.
