Software containers are packages of software that contain all of the necessary elements to run in multiple environments. Containers allow us to run software that might not be built or tested on BisonNet’s Linux platform. This can be particularly useful for running older software applications. However, it’s important to note that when using a container for a particular software package, you may have to run that software a bit differently than you otherwise would. Please see the specific instructions for a given software package or contact bisonnet@bucknell.edu with any questions.
