BisonNet Outage on August 9, 2022

The BisonNet environment will be unavailable from 8am-4pm on August 9, 2022. During this time, we’ll be replacing our storage system with new hardware and software.

There are a couple of changes that we’d like to make you aware of as part of this change:

  1. This new storage system will restore the ability for people to map/mount a drive on your Windows/Mac/Linux system. Following the outage, new instructions will be available here: https://bisonnet.bucknell.edu/transferring-sharing-data/mapping-a-drive-to-or-mounting-your-hpc-storage/
  2. Following this change, we will have the ability to set quotas on the amount of storage people use. Quotas are important as they make it much less likely that one person could fill up the system, which would prevent everyone from using it. It does, however, mean that you will need to be conscious of your space usage and contact us if you find you need more space. Instructions regarding how to retrieve your quota will be available here (https://bisonnet.bucknell.edu/storing-data/quotas/following the outage. The default quota for most users (and new users) will be 100GB. If you already have more than 100GB of data, we have given you enough space for at least 40% growth. E.g. If you have 1TB of data, we’ve set your quota to at least 1.4TB.

Thank you for your patience as we work to improve the environment. Please let us know if you have any questions (bisonnet@bucknell.edu).
